Where the doubled devices on a &quot;doubled die&quot; appear complete and rounded...one device over another, the background device of a machine doubled coin appears flat...as if it were sheered off.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>From what I&#039;ve read, machine doubling most often occurs due to too much pressure used during the minting process.
