OK Thanks So it's off to the bank with this cent. It will be added to all the other thousands of cents I saved 15 years ago (after I finish looking thru them all ) Some of these cents are in really nice shape too.
Don't give up just looking for the major doubled die coins. There are plenty of doubled die cents from 1998-2005 in the reverse statue bay on either side of the pillars that are also very collectible. You may have to tilt the coin to see these as they "hug" both pillars in many cases. Also be on the lookout for the wide AM in America varieties from 1998-2000.
Thanks for the info. I have been looking for WAMs and will start looking for other varieties. I have a bank box of 50 rolls of 2005 cents. Should I leave them untouched or open the rolls and look thru them? Is there anything else besides the pillars that I should look for on the 2005? Thanks
The 2005P was notorious for those statue bay doubled dies. By all means, crack those out as they have little value otherwise unless they are Gems. Just the doubled dies will keep you busy a long time. Go to John Wexler's site www.doubleddie.com and look the 2005P listings up and see how many there were. You may also get lucky and find one or more that are not listed and you get to be a "Discovery" coin hero. Wish I had a whole box of those.
