20200301_080505.jpg I wanted to post this because the penny shows little signs of die deterioration. I'm stuck on what is going on around the ear? 20200301_083919.jpg 20200301_083819.jpg 20200301_083203.jpg 20200301_081732.jpg 20200301_080425.jpg

I don't see anything out of the norm for a ZLincoln.

Not seeing anything out of place. But the Lincoln cent design obverse has been re-tooled many times over it's long history, some for the better, some for the worse. Finding a well struck coin in circulation that has survived with most of it's detail intact can cause some folks to do a double take. Best to save several aside from the same year/mint mark for comparison and then you will see the same design features eventually and it will not look out of place compared to a single specimen.

It's zinc but it looks normal to me.
