I wanted to post this because the penny shows little signs of die deterioration. I'm stuck on what is going on around the ear?
Not seeing anything out of place. But the Lincoln cent design obverse has been re-tooled many times over it's long history, some for the better, some for the worse. Finding a well struck coin in circulation that has survived with most of it's detail intact can cause some folks to do a double take. Best to save several aside from the same year/mint mark for comparison and then you will see the same design features eventually and it will not look out of place compared to a single specimen.
