This is the worst I have seen on any coin I have looked at. Wondering if at any point these become collectable. There would be many just like this correct?
More like Mechanical Doubling than Die Deterioration is common and not really a collectable item with any premium. IMHO
Thanks for the look. Only reason i thought ddd was because it goes every which way. I guess i thought md was a twist of a loose die causing all in same direction.trying to learn
If I found this, I would keep it because it is more extreme than the "usual" MD/DDD, but knowing that it is very unlikely that it will ever be worth more than face value.
That's some pretty kewl looking metal flow.. I would think it was deterioration too but it gets me confused at times
I think this is DDD rather than mechanical/machine doubling. Note the wide variance on the "L" & "R" of DOLLAR. I've seen similar deterioration on Morgan dollars. Chris
