Filled dies aka 'struck thru grease'

    (or other machinery oil-like substance)

Great find but it would be a stretch if you found someone willing give you 50 cents +/-. Definitely a keeper IMO, even if doesn't help pay for your kids college education

I have a appointment with a coin collector Friday to grade it and to see how much it is worth

looks like someone hit it with a dremel buffing wheel for the fun of it ...

But I respect Fred's input much more than my guess

Mint Errors are attributed.. You are going to get it attributed

Value is only what a collector is willing to pay for it.. It's not a rare issue. I wouldn't pay more than $1.00 for it

Please be sure to let us know what your "coin collector" says. Evaluating in hand vs. from photos is always preferable.

And if this individual tells you that it's worth anything over a couple bucks tops, and even then only to the "right" buyer, I would strongly suggest you have them out their money where their mouth is.

    Good luck.

    I think I see a faint D, or remnants of a D.

Is this a Barber coin? I ask because part of Lincoln's beard is missing.

If this cent was struck through grease, as I suspect it was (agreeing with the others above), I'd value it between $5 to $10. It's a keeper.
