Hello, First time in the COIN chat.. I posted on 2 of the FB groups but no response..hoping someone can help me make cents of theses coins.. not really looking for pricing, but will help.. more so if it's errors during production? I got theses 3 coins all collected this week.. A 1992 I mean 1993 quarter ? Whats going on with that 3 somewhat looking like a 2?, A 1997 quarter who is having a P or D issue, and a 2002 penny that just got placed on hold for being 5150 Thank you in advance for your Time, help and input
That's a whole lot of damage. 1993 quarter 1997 P quarter 2002 D cent with plating issues. Spend them all and get your 51 cents worth PS - Welcome and hope you stick around awhile.
Thank you for the help @furryfrog02 .. I will have to wait till I get at least 99 cents more to buy something lol.. Appreciate the welcome
None are production errors…they are just damaged or corroded. @Pennybaby75 …most people do not collect this type of coinage as they are awful looking. When I find this kind of stuff I spend it before it disintegrates in my hand. Also, there is almost no deciphering anything from the coin in this condition. You ask if a P or D? The answer is: It’s both! The wear, damage or corrosion made it happen. One thing I did just think of, in all seriousness, is some people collect coins that are damaged this way…the more damage the better. Kind of along the same line of reasoning that Low Ball collections are put together. So if that is what you meant you found 3 good ones…imo…Spark
Those Facebook groups know less than you do.. I visit them once in a while for a good laugh. I once had a young buck member tell me that I need to learn what Mint Errors are then come back and respond. I have been collecting Mint Errors longer than the person has been alive. 37 years! Stick with CoinTalk!
Well not every Facebook page pertaining to Mint Errors.. This one is the best and my favorite! By CoinTalk member @JCro57
1993 Quarter-damaged 1997 P Quarter 2002 Cent-Zinc rot where the mint mark is making it look like a D. Plating issues. Put them all together and spend them.
The responses are pretty accurate. I can't add anything but a second welcome and keep posting. Good luck.
Thanks everyone for taking the time.. I appreciate the feed back.. Im closer to getting a cup of ☕ Til next time enjoy and happy hunting
The 1993 took a hit at the bottom of the lower loop that kind-of flattened it out, and it does kind-of look like a 2
