The 1993 $50- last of the small head $50 notes, because the series succeeding this one was 1996, not 1995, which meant a large head black and white design. This note was from the first New York block of 35,200,000, and isn’t in the best condition (I already happen to have a crisp B-B 1993 $50) so, this note is going to be spent. I just wanted to share, since these are rarely seen today. (If you ask a teller for any note older than 1996, they have to search through the “mutilated currency”). My apologies for the rotated top pic.
All $50 notes were printed in Washington DC through series 2001. When the $50 became colorized, in series 2004, the printing moved to the Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth Texas where it remains to this day.
This note will be a great loss but one can't save everything, unfortunately. Last month I traded out eight small face fifties and four small face hundreds at a local casino to help make room for a recent influx of high denomination small face notes that were in at least somewhat better condition. It was a shame to see them go but I knew it had to be done. Thank you for sharing insight into the unfortunate realities of this hobby in terms of letting notes go while saving others.
