1992 penny has a lot of slpit plating issues.

Why so much? Or is this a sign of die deterioration? This is all I seem to be finding.

It is split plating. Doesn't add value to the coin.

underneath that thin copper plating (they went from 95% copper with 5% tin and zinc to 2.5% copper with 97.5% Zinc ) .. and split plating you may start to get zinc rot underneath.
