    Looks like Mechanical doubling..
    Not a Doubled Die variety IMHO

    Are you referring to the MD on the coin? If so, it's quite common, especially on proofs.

    Nut... Proofs are double pressed, correct? If so, then this would increase the instance for MD?

    Proofs are struck twice but as the Die wears this happens, MD.

    See how the MD is 'shelf' doubling
    compared to the main lettering/digit......
