https://english.stackexchange.com/q...-of-the-idiom-let-something-rip/158134#158134 "This phrase has a very striking history. "When rival river steam-boats were fully established on the Mississippi and other American rivers, the rival captains would put on every ounce of steam in order to keep ahead. Too frequently the boiler would burst, or 'rip', as emphatically it would when bursting. ' Let her rip ' came to be a common expression amongst these captains when more timid passengers or sensible sub-officers urged him to lower the steam pressure."
Yes, I agree…pic #1 shows a CAM…but the next is a WAM. Then a close-up of the head, then 2 1991 shots. And then later she posts 1998. No wonder everyone’s confused. @PamR …please limit posts to one coin. Normally you post one coin asking a question. Then a pic of full image obverse, a pic of full image reverse, then any close-ups of the area of the coin you have a question about. This accomplishes three critical things: It allows members to fully assess the coin in question, and asking a clear question means we don’t have to guess what you mean. And finally, posting a single coin per post prevents confusion between coins. So…at this point, we really don’t know what the date is for your CAM picture. 1992 P and D are normally supposed to be WAM, and the CAM variety is very scarce, rare even, and is very valuable. I recommend starting over and post all the criteria for your CAM. I would love to discover you found a 1992 CAM in your father’s collection.
I got lost in all of the replies, so didn't bother to read every one, but I like your MAD and think I'd keep it as it is a good example.
Thank you. Yes that was my rant an rave posts lol. But I’m replying a couple of them to Martha. I think I’m getting the name right! Thanks again!
Hi Martha. I’m just going to do another thread later or tomorrow with the 92s. The ones I really think it’s a CAM I will post. Thanks!
You're right. It's useless. I joined when I was first eligible, at age 50. I received no value for my membership. AARP sold my information to marketers and I was inundated with come-ons and sales pitches. They use the numbers of members as "ballast" to gain weight in politics. They (the leadership) ignore your opinion and push their own agenda. You can see that in their advertisements and membership drives. Beneficial to the top elite. Useless to the rank and file.
