Isn't there something like a Blakely effect or something like that that I could look for? Not sure on spelling.
For the sake of conversation... If it WERE a triple clip would it hold enough value as an error to justify spending the $4 to know for sure?
Triple Clipped - the clip at LIB is genuine the clip at TY is genuine the clip to the lower right of the 'D' is genuine Not large clips, but it is triple clipped. A photo of the entire coin would be helpful for us to see the clips, and the Blakesley Effect opposite.
Ty very much. I try to get the whole coin but my little stand does not extend high enough. I am going to try and construct one for instances like this.
Thanks, to authenticate things like this, people always bring up the "Blakesley Effect" (sic), but that isn't always present, particularly with small clips like this. In the absence of proof like that, we are left with experience. The members here have a lot of experience, but I just want to say that I appreciate the expertise of someone like @Fred Weinberg
OK.. I take my comment back and also agree it's a Triple Clip I will post pictures soon of examples from my collection
@bryantallard I have shown these before from my collection.. The quarter is not the best Triple Clip. I like yours better! The second coin is an error label.. CURVVED
very nice coins. I had only remembered hearing of the blakesley effect from one of your prior posts so I had learned something thanks to you I found this nice example which really shows the effect at work. thank you.
