1991 D Grease Nickel?

    I found this in circulation. The devices are rather “smushed” looking, or non-descript. As though struck through grease, although it could be circulation wear— I’m not totally sure. I’ve seen coins advertised as being struck thru grease that look similar to this coin, but I thought I’d have you guys take a look at it and get your opinions on it.

    No grease. Just a damaged coin.

    Do you mean that some form of damage caused the details to appear smushy? OR just that it's been through lots of circulation.

    Circulation damage. Could even be a slot machine coin.

    I'm with heavy circulation scratches.
    The greasers will often have entire letters missing,
    and then the letters right next to them are completely formed.
