Found this little pretty and I was wondering if it was an S penny and also wondering if its damage on the front with all the words. The portrait on the front is perfect but the wording looks faded and not popped up, damage or mint error? The back seems fine too. also sorry for it being little dirty
No, it is not an S minted cent (which would be a proof coin and would have a mirror finish.) It could be wear; it could be a weak strike; it could be a grease-filled die, it could be PMD. In the condition it's in, it is worth exactly half an opinion.
The rim is a normal rim. Hard to tell from the photo but is the last didgit of the date seem enlarged towards the rim?
Tilted back n forth in the light it does not seem to be bigger than normal even though it is almost not there
Curious that it could be a grease mold doubled coin. Here is my 96 http://www.lincolncentforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=108194&d=1457770269 Look up grease mold doubling
Please don't confuse the OP by using improper terminology. He/she is trying to learn. The correct term is "grease-filled die". This is a greaser........ Chris
