Hello everyone, I'm new here and was hoping some more experienced eyes could lend me a hand. I have a quarter with deformed lettering, and while my hunch tells me it's just weird looking damage, I wanted to double-check just in case. I attached some photos below:
Welcome to Coin Talk. All the deformed letters were caused by hits to the coin. You can see where the metal was moved by the hits. All the other dents, bumps, etc. are considered damaged and adds no value to the coin.
That's good that you want to double check and learn the difference.. It is PMD - Post Mint Damage Circulation wera and tear.
Thanks to the both of ya for helping me out. Now I know that hits to the coin can actually move the metal in such a weird way lol. Your responses were really quick btw lol.
