1990 mint marked every where

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Melissa Weller, Mar 19, 2021.

  1. Has anyone ever see this before...this 1990 is double died, has mint mark D stamp on obverse and reverse, one mint mark S above the 1990 slanted, the W in We is stamped twice, the is a D on the O in One, Lincoln's ear is double and Lincoln has Ds on head and throughout...I'm curious how this happens. Any knowledge is appreciated thanks in advance. Hope these photos help and are clear enough, it's much clearer if ur looking at it through a loupe.

Just remember that any Lincoln cent with no mint mark were minted at the Philadelphia Mint. Except for the special P mint mark Cent only minted in 2017.

Yes that's a Philadelphia minted coin made on a zinc planchet. Strange things happen to zinc and this is a good example of that. Most of it is covered in plating bubbles, and some have popped so it will start to rot in the near future.
