Does it look to you like the G in the FG is a transitional coin? Instead of the strong G it looks like it has just the vertical line. What do you guys think? I'm just not sure. I guess it could be the way it was struck.
Too much magnification? The less mag, the more it looks normal! Anything over 20/30X magnification you can find just about anything your mind will let you!!
I'll have to see if I can dig up a link, but there's one from 1988 that displays the reverse of 1989 and iirc is most easily identified by the designer initials.

1989 through 1992. Then they stop doing the serifs. Between the transitional period of the serifs being changed in 1989, some of the 1988 cents were stamped with the serifs and some of the 1989 cents were stamped without the serifs. It is an error.
