199 ? Lincoln Cent missing last number in date. What's it worth.

    Chances are it's also struck through grease.

    I also have two coins missing the last digit. one has the remnants of a 3, the other has the remnants of a 2, but it looks to have a close a m on the reverse. so just to let you know to check for that.

    I have a penny with the last didgit missing looks like it's a 7 but it's very faint

    There is no way it was sanded off. I have one too. I looked at it with a strong magnifying glass and the back ground has exactly the same texture as the surrounding area, the 9 is just missing.

    No one said it was sanded off. Raised devices on coins are set into the die. If the areas fill with grease the metal can't flow in, resulting in no letters or numbers.
