[QUOTE="OcalaFlorida, post: 1973960, member: 71825"]This is an in-collar indent with a struck-through error. - Indent strike - High finned rim from indent strike - Struck through wire through indent - Copper Cent limits date range 1980-82 This indented error was struck with another planchet with wire or string lying partially on its surface. The area covered by the planchet did not come into contact with the die, and thus is blank with the indent from wire/string. The pressure from the strike pushed the metal up and caused the raised rim. I assume it was plachet and not another coin as there is no brockage. it weights 3.10 gm so it is copper so could be 1980-1982 Philadelphia mint the struck-through could be string/wire/thread The in finned rim is from the pressure of it being restrained in the collar. I have not seen much info on this type of error so I decided to share here. I learned this info after posting this coin and getting excellent feedback from Mike Diamond a very smart Error coin writer and researcher a while back.
