Hey everyone! I’ve always been interested in coins, and now I’m getting back into the collecting hobby. I’ve gone through containers of coins in my house and this error cent stands out the most. I was wondering if anybody would know about how much it’s worth
There are a few on ebay that same year going for about 20-25 bucks. Modern off center cents aren't exactly uncommon. Still a major error obviously, and personally, off center strikes are my favorite errors to collect.
That's overpriced. I've collected many off center struck cents over the years. Copper planchet Cents $8.00 - $12.00 Copper plated Zinc Cents $5.00 - $8.00
It's just what I saw from a quick ebay search. I primarily collect off center wheats so, 20 bucks is still cheap to me.
I was at a shop the other day. What about 90% off centers with a date? They definitely should have a larger premium.
I am not an error collector but don’t discount that this has been one of the more active segments of our hobby in recent years. Why don’t off center strikes command more of a premium? Are they very common?
They are more common that one would think. I can go to my LCS and he will have about 10 of them to choose from. I also buy from an online dealer and he only charges $5 to $12 for one, the higher one are more off center. I have a number of them in my collection. You can even get off centered coins from the early 1800’s but those run at a higher premium. I have them in all denominations but I don’t have any photos of the older coins but I have them. The 3 cents cost me $5.00 for all of them and the Dime set me back $5.00.
I can't believe any of these are not worth more money. I have never personally seen such botched up coins. With today's technology, and quality control, how did they get into circulation??? (oh never mind, they haven't stopped Jeep production)
