    Welcome to the neighborhood!

It didn't come from the Mint that way. The silver coating and whatever is engraved in the obverse field is post-mint damage (PMD). In the future, it would be best if you posted photos of any coin you want to discuss.

Exactly how sweet because I have a 1988 silver penny tgat has not been scrubbed, rubbed, washed or anything to change its coloring it weighs 1.6 grams, probably not correct scales for coins but I'm also not a coin specialist by any means, I need some answers on this very rare coin, I had nit even thought of this ever being a mistake that took place and it be real until I hold it in my hand myself, it's pretty cool edited penny ;)

Pictures please. What you are describing does not make sense.

Hi, I'm trying to figure out why one of my pennies is showing a silver-colored core when, in all my life of seeing worn out pennies, I have never come across this before. So, do I have something special here? I was reading that most pennies minted after 1982 are copper-plated zinc, so I don't want to bring this to a coin shop and look like an idiot. Thanks.

Looks like damage revealing the inner zinc core. Take a sharp object to a penny in your pocket and you can see this.

What @medoraman said. The copper plating has been filed/abraded off the reverse exposing the zinc.

You might have a silver toned cent. You do not have a cent made from silver.

Looks a lot like a cent that has had the copper plating stripped off after it left the mint.
