This particular '88 I found looks especially different from most of the others ive encountered. I wish I had better pictures but I just dont have the equipment. Under a loupe at 16x it looks like a match.
Your close up through the plastic is too blurry but it looks like a normal '88 to me. No tail & crossbar on the "G" and the top curl is even with the outside edge of the bottom bar.
