1988 Lincoln Half Cent?

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by TopcatCoin, Nov 1, 2012.

  1. My son received the following cent in change at the school cafeteria today. The obverse looks like a typical 1988 LMC. The reverse is gone. Is this an error, PMD, or a fake coin? Thanks, TC

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

The mint had trouble with the glue that year.

Post mint damage I would say most likely a magicians coin

Well, if you read some of the similar threads on CT, most posters hate to be told their coin is PMD, even with obvious lathe marks and a drop of glue for good measure. I'm pretty sure you know what you have there TC, lol.

It look like one of those coins that come glued let say to a card or something that is used as a souvenir.

The mint had lots of problems that year, the Commemorative Ford LTD coin turn out to be a flop and the release of the AAE (American Aluminum Eagle) was suspended due to the overproduction of Crystal Pepsi. They were running low on the alloy.
