Hello there everyone. Can you all chime in on my penny. Is this a double ear on my 1988 D penny. I put an image from a doubled ear 1988. Your info is much appreciated.
IMO it looks like a Doubled Ear but the last time I told someone that other members told me I was wrong. Wait for the experts. Meanwhile check this out: https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1...BAgDEAE&biw=1302&bih=591#imgrc=jjTc2C2CRwk5ZM:
I still don't see it. Yours does not have the very distinct secondary ridge going from the left all the way down and around the bottom. I just don't see it. You have to ignore the jawbone line .. all the pennies have that. Compare your coin to another 1988 cent, not the double ear, and you'll see it is normal is shape, etc. By comparing it to the double ear you are seeing a total variation in the ear itself of a thicker lobe etc. Yours is normal. The doubled ear is different entirely not just of the double part but the entire ear by comparison.
If these are supposed to be twins, then one was born on Pluto and the other was born on Mercury. No way! Chris
As i stated. Prior to this. I am new to the coin collecting world Chris. I nerver once said they were twins. If you pay ATTENTION to the info that I wrote. It says. I need help.
Here is your initial post (See above). You never said you were new, and you never said you needed help. All you asked for was input. In case you didn't notice, my comment was directed to your Post #7 which I quoted. (See below) Get your facts straight before you start berating someone. Chris
From your new photos I'd say you do not have a Doubled Ear coin. In your original post I thought all the coins were yours. I should have read it more carefully. If I had, I would've told you the same thing. Your coin is not the Doubled Ear variety.
