Why does the Sun go on shining? Why does the sea rush to shore? Don't they know, it's the end of the world, 'cause you don't love this nickel, anymore? I don't know why, Rosa. Really. It looks like it's kind of corroded.
It's just the way the nickel tarnished . It could have been on the ground for awhile or maybe through a washing machine . I've seen some pretty colorful ones though .
I found some more pennys in my dad's room a couple of rolls from 1960 n 1970.Also some 1974 s pennys,If anybody know if I should keep saving them?
In that condition they're not worth much . But are you collecting Lincolns as an area of interest ? I collect any pre '82 cent just because they're mostly copper . Not that they'll ever be worth anything . I guess I just like them because it's real and not this zincoid junk they make today .
Those cents can be found in change. Nothing special there. The nickel looks like it was thrown in some ashes or a fire. Just spend it
Having worked in the medical field years ago...I will tell you that stomach acid will turn a nickel dark...just another guess that it made the trip through a human digestive system .
Rosa, those look good. Ah, the second one is scratched, and they're worth only a couple or three cents, but so what? Somebody thought they were important enough to save, right? Well, there you go.
What might of caught your father's attention on this Cent is that it looks to be a MAD Cent. That means Misaligned Die. See how the right side is thicker than the left? It is a common occurrence in Cents from the early 70's. Not a huge error but it is an error. And the Nickel. Just environmental damage. I metal detect also and the Nickels tend to change color underground easily.
