1988 cent ? Is this a rev of a 89?

    I'd sure love to answer that. I would say yes, but I'm not a coin error expert.

    Thanks for the reply.I'am thinking it is,it looks like the one in strike it rich book.I'am just not good at grading yet,and wanted to see what you all think

    It sure looks like it,I am a roll collector also and have found quite a few errors I go through a box of 50 rolls every other week.

    Here are a few things to look for on the 1988 RDV-005 & RDV-006 coins to identify them.

    The 1992 close AM is a big one.

    It's kind of hard to see where the upper loop of the G ends in your pic. If it's where I think it ends, then yes, I'd say you have a RDV-006. Good find!

    Looks like a RDV-005 to me, top of "F" slanted up, no "chin" on the "G"

    How does the A-M spacing look?

    I thought you wanted to see close and far AM in America on the back af the coin.

    I feel this coin was struck by a worn die. The cross bar is at an angle and not horizontal. The location of the "FG" is different than the RDV-006. Most of the 006 coins are in an earlier die state as they were fresh dies put into usage before 1989. I've not yet seen a 1988 RDV-006 that is from a die that is worn.

    The devices are wider than normal because of the die wear. Note the crossbar at an angle. Location of the bottom of the "F". This matches the RDV-005.

    Thank you so much coop your the man!! I'am going to break out those rolls of 88's and look for flat a's.
