Billy, you need to remember that 4.6 billion coins were struck for this date/mintmark. How many dies do you think were used to produce all of those coins? How many of those dies were produced exactly alike? How many of the presses were set up exactly alike? With that many variables, the possibilities are enormous. You can't just compare one coin to another. You need to compare it to tens or maybe hundreds of thousands. Chris

There is a 1997 doubled ear variety but 9 times out of 10 the ear takes a hit during circulation and sometimes it looks like a doubled ear. This one took a hit. I also see machine doubling on liberty but that is all. Nothing special.
