How many places do you see doubling on this coin? Image784.jpg Image785.jpg

I don't see any doubling at all.

Say Markus click on each photo and look at the bottom of the hair line.Do they look the same to you? As a trained observer they surely are not the same. Lets just start with that.

Well, I asked the OP to answer his own question to see if he knew or if he just wanted opinions from others.

Billy, you need to remember that 4.6 billion coins were struck for this date/mintmark. How many dies do you think were used to produce all of those coins? How many of those dies were produced exactly alike? How many of the presses were set up exactly alike? With that many variables, the possibilities are enormous.

You can't just compare one coin to another. You need to compare it to tens or maybe hundreds of thousands.

There might be slight doubling on the ear (aargh!) but that's it.

There is a 1997 doubled ear variety but 9 times out of 10 the ear takes a hit during circulation and sometimes it looks like a doubled ear. This one took a hit. I also see machine doubling on liberty but that is all. Nothing special.
