Considering how many coins are struck by a single pair of dies, if this was an error (IT'S NOT!), there'd be millions more of them exactly like that one.
There should be a FAQ post about how NOT every coin with a ding, scratch, scrape, wear, bend, hole, or bubble is an ERROR coin. I'm noticing a lot of posts where people say "what kind of error is this" instead of asking "is this an error?"
That is not an error coin. It's just damage. It has probably spent a lot of time being bounced around a parking lot.
OOOHH, ....surely that's a new variety...Parking Lot Error Penny (P.L.E.P) heehee..aahhhh worth a try.
PMD - POST (After leaving the mint) Mint Damage .00 cents! I don't think that a Coinstar machine would take that quarter
I'm sorry, but I have to type this. Even a person who is brand spanking new to coin collecting would HAVE to know that the coin is severely DAMAGED, and they are not ERRORS. If a person has enough knowledge to get online, take pictures of their coin, post them on here, then surely they know what is wrong with that coin. I call troll. Sorry.
Based on your reasoning, every new member is a troll. Should CT close it's membership so that you don't have to see "troll" posts?
Come on now, look at that coin. Nobody could think that is has an error, let alone a lot of errors. Even non-collectors can see that the coin is nothing but severely damaged.
