On the obverse above the date is a pyramid shaped mark. My first thought was a Vickers test mark, but Vickers test marks are 4 sided pyramidal shapes and the mark on this coin is a three sided tetrahedron. Plating blister, corrosion was dismissed do to the pyramid shape of the mark. I later came across a 1997 D dime that has the same 3 sided pyramidal shaped(tetrahedron). Any opinions? 20210415_214601_HDR~2.jpg 20210415_214621_HDR~2.jpg 0124-18~2.jpg 20210415_214720_HDR~2.jpg

That looks like a die chip other than that nothing really special i would just spend them.

Please post ONE coin per Thread .
I see a "die chip" on the dime if it's raised , damage if it's not .

The only thing I see on the penny is a die crack from the bottom left of the monument to the rim.

Just making a comparison. Pyramid shaped die chip. There is a pyramid shaped test mark. Die chip is hard for me to believe. If it were just the penny, maybe. I am not saying it is a test mark, but it is strange. Anymore opinions.

That is still a die chip. or a die gouge. So if it is the test you speak of, it would still be considered a die chip. I don't know if it is or not though, and the chances of a die chip are high. They are very common.

Would it be possible to get out a ruler or caliper or some such device and measure the sides of those tetrahedrons? I don't think they're the same size, but I could be wrong. Just look at the length of the hypotenuse on the dime. When I first saw that sucker, I was thinking, "That's one big hypotenuse!" I mean, as far as hypotenuses go.

Is it possible it could be a die dent?
