1986 MS69 ASE why so high?

    I am not sure either...I once collected these as well..I can only think that it was the 1st year of issue..thats it...wow it went for $80..

    NO CLUE! The current going price is around $30-$50
    Maybe the guy is bidding on his own item...some shill bidding in place.

    but then why would anyone else bid to win it?

    he can bid all he wants but if only 1 other person bids $30 then it will not go higher then $30 + the bid increment.

    Edit: I gotta say if anyone wants to pay $80 for my 1986 MS69 I will cover the shipping costs and it will be proirity mail too! :D
    P.S. this isn't me trying to sell anything I'm not shocked as to the high price...

    1986 is a semi-key date for ASEs. The coin shop near me sells them ungraded for $39 while common dates sell for $20. I think you got a fairly good deal as a collectible.

    I didn't know that it was a semi-key date I've seen alot of them sell on e-bay for about or lower then what I paid...maybe I should have bought them to resell and double my money...

    I would take the '86 proof ASE over that one for less money every time. They cost 2X of an ASE but look 10X better, IMO.
