1985D Roosevelt Dime

    found in my change, my dime has a dull silver color on the OBv and a copper color on the REv. It weighs 3.2 gms ,17.9 mm. What kind of coin is this? 19985 D dime.jpg 1985 d REV.jpg

    At first glance I would have speculated the dime had been laying reverse side down in the dirt and you're just seeing environmental toning/damage, but 3.2g? Are you sure that wasn't a mistype and it's 2.2g? If it's 3.2 then somehow it's picked up another half of a dime in weight... o_O

    An interaction with the environment and elements. Likely sat in some chemical of some sort.
