This is one of the prettiest 1985 P Lincoln's I have seen to date. The obverse is so clear of any blemish and the Reverse looks the same. The A in AMERICA has a pretty little loop connecting it to the M. Pluribus Unum has doubling. In the Memorial building, is that a clashed die, or lamination error? Thanks for looking
The E. Pluribus Unum is probably a form of die detoriation than an actual doubling. (not saying that it's not a possibility however not likely) See here for die varities for a 1985 Lincoln: http://www.coppercoins.com/diesearch.php?date=1985&date1=1985&page=0 As for the Memorial it's either die detoriation, die chip, or lamination error. It's hard for me to tell in your pictures. -Shrek
That is a nice looking one for an '85. Definitely looks like a die clash to me. As for any doubling, I can't see any from the pictures.
There is evidence of a die clash but most of what you are seeing was caused by the dies being extremely worn. Have Fun, Bill
