Hi everyone, new here, new to coin searching. Either this lincoln penny was already in my change or it was found in my first coin roll hunt (the two got mixed together) Very addicting by the way! Pretty certain this is a 1984d Doubled Die on the obverse, You can see it on the date, a little bit in liberty (the L is a bit fat) and in the word "god" especially, plus it matches the doubled die listing From doubleddie.com as 1984d ddo-001 or -002 but more than that there's this wierd uneven surface going on with the planchet itself. Obverse only, the reverse seems fine, the word "america" is pretty close to edge, but when magnified you can see it's not quite making contact. On the obverse you can see where the elevated surface curves above the word liberty then up and around cutting through the words in god we trust then all the way towards the date and back into lincolns bust. Magnified the separation of the two levels looks like a crack in the planchet as you can see in my "god" picture. Hopefully that makes sense. Can you guys see that too? Is it just post mint damage or something more? I tried looking up known planchet errors, even post mint damage examples, but couldn't find anything matching this. Anyone have any insight or am I just crazy and looking way too deeply into this?
