1984 Zinc Penny

    Could someone tell me why the penny on the right has a height difference? It is also slightly concave. It weighs 2.6g. Concave penny (2).jpg Concave penny (1).jpg

    It is either a dryer coin, that is spent time in a clothes dryer, which hit the edges repeatedly

    or: a coin that someone spooned, that is hit the edges with a spoon, in an attempt to make a ring

    more likely the first

    I think it has been spooned. If it had been a dryer coin, you would expect to see damage to the devices of both sides.
