1984 Quarter Dark Grayish tone and more

    This quarter has a grayish tone with a satin surface on both obverse and reverse. So was this quarter struck through grease on both sides causing the lettering to fade or be missing. is this a quarter that you would keep or is it nothing to get excited about.

    IMO someone gave it a very harsh cleaning.

    whizzed = a wire brush on a Dremel tool used to clean heavily caked crud off of a coin, very quickly, but very harshly.

    It makes a coin look like it's been to "The Land of a Thousand Scratches".

    Yes, it was definitely mechanically cleaned (whizzed). Spend it. Keep lookin'.
