    Hello,

I came across this penny during a recent search and wanted to know what exactly happened to the coin? Is it a die crack error or something else? The most dramatic of it is in the photos, but I can see it almost runs around the entire reverse. If someone could explain what this penny is displaying, I'd greatly appreciate it!

    Thanks for looking!

Looks like a lamination error but let’s call @paddyman98. He will no. Pretty cool!!

Interesting. That circular issue is definitely not a Die Crack. Just an extreme example of a very worn die and how it can affect the copper plating.

There is a nice Die Crack at the base of the Lincoln Memorial building. It is raised.

That was my first thought because of the saturation mark

Several things are going on with this coin. It was struck with a worn die, hence what looks like a crack is not raised so it's not a crack. But there is a die crack in the right side.
