Is this the 1984 penny with ear doubling that I have seen and heard about? The ear lobe definitely looks doubled but not the rest of the ear. Do I have the ear doubled penny or am I just trying to see something that's not there? 20241010_174454.jpg

Welcome to CoinTalk. I think you have a spender, here's what the true doubled ear looks like.

VarietyVista also recognizes another doubled ear from this year, but I don't think you have that either.

It's a spender as noted by our fellow enthusiast. You'll find as you look through piles of cents that MD is a common phenomenon in the earlobe area on 80s cents. Also, keep this in mind: there are many DDO varieties for 1984, especially obvious in LIBERTY. So, don't give up on a '84 if it's not the big one.

@M Moro …when you suspect doubling you go to CONECA/Variety Vista or John Wexler’s website doubleddie.com and match what you find. You match the doubling you see with those listed, including listed die markers. If it doesn’t match exactly, then it probably isn’t.

In this case, I think almost all the varieties for a 1984 Lincoln Memorial Cent (LMC) have been identified. I mean, after all, it’s been 40 years…Spark

Although, I am bummed that I don't have it, I am very thankful for the input and advice! Thank you very much!

If you look close the doubling is also on the tip of the nose, lips and chin/beard. Nice detailed Photog.
