1984 D (two toned?)

    Im wrong on date-prior post, its a 1982

    Someone has dipped it in an acidic solution and removed the toning. Louisiana Hot Sauce will do that to copper.

    It was probably in a can of pennies that got wet with something and sat halfway out of the liquid.

    when my son was in like 4th or 5th grade he came home one day with a penny that looked just like the OP's coin, they were studying acids an all the kids had a little cup of ketchup with a penny stuck halfway in and discussed results at end of class, my son's penny was spent later that day....
