1984 D LMC (example of Die Deterioration or MD)

    Something here other than wear and tear/MD/DD?

    1984 Cent is a Copper Coated Zinc Cent. They have plating issues.
    A worn Die looks like what created your issue.. Die Deterioration Doubling
