1984-D DDO-002 Designation: 2-O-II-C+VI Description: Strong spread on date and lower bust, with extra thickness on IN GOD WE TRUST and light spread on LIB of LIBERTY Markers: Stage A: Obverse and Reverse are EMDS Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed) Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed)
Here's something I have to post, its another error, on the error coin sites, lets start with coppercoins, the year, 1984-D, the DDO is, DDO-002.. Heres what it states: 1984D-1DO-002 | CLASS 2 + 6 (LDS) CONECA: 1-O-II+VI | Crawford:UNKNOWN Wexler: UNKNOWN | FS#: FS:1C-039 Very nice extra thickness and separation lines show on the date, WE TRUST, and the bottom of the profile. So coppercoins says the cross-reference for their DDO on coneca site is: 1-0-II+VI.. So lets take a look at coneca site, to match up coppercoins cross-reference number DDO-001 states: 1984-D DDO-001 Designation: 1-O-II-C+VI; FS-01-1984D-101 (039) Description: Strong spread on IN GOD WE TRUST and date with near total separation on tail of 9 and U of TRUST Markers: Stage A: EDS (unconfirmed) Stage B: Obverse is MDS Die cracks down columns #9, #10, and #12 – MDS Stage C: Obverse and Reverse are LDS Not that one, only 1 left, and that DDO-002 which states: 1984-D DDO-002 Designation: 2-O-II-C+VI Description: Strong spread on date and lower bust, with extra thickness on IN GOD WE TRUST and light spread on LIB of LIBERTY Markers: Stage A: Obverse and Reverse are EMDS Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed) Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed) Either of the two DDO(s) from coneca, match coppercoins cross-reference number, just more mistake on theses error coin sites.. Heres coppercoins site http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1984&die_id=1984d1do002&die_state=lds Heres coneca site http://varietyvista.com/Variety Master Listings/lincoln doubled dies 1980-1996.htm#_1984-D
Its coneca DDO, Jay, it's DDO-002, but whats up with theses error site, all of coppercoins info, for cross-reference is wrong...
Coneca doesn't have photos of that one. However, it's the same one that's listed at Coppercoins as 1DO-002.
I'll take some images of the die crack on columns, #9-#10, when I get back from taking my son to college ..
First, this isn't even close to what you are saying it is. It's not #2. You also shouldn't talk trash about other sites. You wouldn't want them to do that about this site would you. Another thing to understand is the sites don't usually share finds when they are discovered. They're assigned a number when someone finds one and it's attributed. What might be #1 on 1 site could be #3 on another. they don't watch each others site waiting to assign numbers. One may even think that one discovery is just a different die stage of a current variety. Lots of things to consider.
You do know what a cross-reference number is, theses error site need to do the info right, and theirs isn't even close, check their sites, the info all right there, and yes, they are wrong.... As for ddo-002 I know now, its not that one, but, DDO-001 is a very good chance of.... And thats for coneca too... One last thing, I would never trash coneca, their never the issue..
Just encase anybody interested, I post this coin on pcgs forums, with new images, and the right DDO, heres the link http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=936585
I DID find that coin last week. I can't believe it. Less than 250 known specimens out of 5.6 billion minted......
Hello, have always enjoyed collecting and or finding rare coins but the mint errors are relatively new to me. Don't want to hijack your thread but am not able to create new posts yet but this is about a 1984 D reverse error. I believe to have found an undiscovered mint error. I hope the pic is sufficient, the stairs of the monument and the first horizontal lines right above the columns appear to have another set of stairs and lines twisted about 10 to 15 degrees counter clockwise over the original.
Pictures?by what you are describing im thinking strike through or indirect design transfer but its most likely damage.
