I was going through my' coins tonight to get ready for the Coin Show in dalton, GA and came across a true mystery coin! I found that I have a really nice BU Red 1984-D "DDO-001" Lincoln Cent which I am almost certain is a MDS (Mid Die Stage) specimen since it virtually does not have any of the LDS Die Markers. What is really intriguing is that the coin clearly has an "D/D" RPM to the East. I know that one of the Die Markers for the DDO-001 in the LDS specimens is a Machine Doubled "D" with the secondary image to the North. However, this coin does not show the Machine Doubling but actually has a secondary vertical bar just to the East of the primary vertical bar in the "D" and also has bulging to the East of the loop which is apparently the remains of the llop of the secondary "D". Although the coin is clearly a DDO-001, I believe that this a completely new Variety variation from the same Master Die due to the RPM. I will do my best to get some pictures up of the coin and I am sure that Chuck would like to see this one.

Frank
