Jay, try to eliminate the glare and use a low power pen light source to examine from the 4 cardinal points: north, east, south and west, if possible. On close-ups, I shoot a pen light beam under the lip of my scope at varying angles and this not only eliminates the glare but also illuminates split serifs, separation lines and die markers. At first it is difficult to do because it is concentration-extensive. But after a couple times you get better at it. Let us all know how this works for you...jmho...Spark
I'm with Spark. Some better photos might bear this out. What looks like notching might just be related to glare. Buy worth exploring a bit.
