    Yes you can..... Place a copper/zinc cent between two pieces of leather and give it two or three sharp blows with a hammer. The micro-thin copper coat will fall away leaving you with a zinc cent. Usually these are just a very slight bit larger in diameter than a normal cent. They are so common that they have been blessed with the name of Texas Cent!
