They may have polished out some kind of Die Clash, but they missed a spot.

Plus, a die crack in a place I've never seen before.

    And a common place.

Not sure that is a clash most likely die deterioration.

    Maybe a dropped element?
Is it recessed or raised on the coin?

Yes. I will try to get a side photo when I get time.

Upon further examination, I figured out what it is. It's old man Winter hiding on my coin! LOL

I couldn't get a good angle photo, so I took close up photos while spinning it with the light at a constant position. I thought it looked like a letter originally.

    I can't tell.
But I will agree with old man winter.

Those photos are crap. I'll just try to find another example online to see what they say. Got to be more than one strike out there.

This photo looks like Blackbeard’s ghost.
The other photos look like the Devils fork. Looks like a worn die. Hard to say for sure but I don’t think it’s anything major.

    I don't think so either.

Yeah, must be why they didn't polish it out with the others, because it was nothing. Still a keeper though for the over polishing of the die.

Was wondering if anyone could tell me what's going on with this 1983 penny

Just so you know, they are common and have no added value.
