it has a think layer of copper, over a zinc core.

    Can you weigh it?
    Copper Cent weighs 3.11 grams
Copper plated Zinc weighs 2.5 grams

But it is most likely a Copper Plated Zinc Cent

It doesn't look like copper at all.
What Paddy said. You must weigh it.

So what do you think of these scenarios:

    (a) You go to a restaurant. You look at the glass, silverware, and plates and see someone fingerprints all over it, maybe even sticky residue. Do you just think .. ooh .. and nothing of it ??

    (b) What about going to a car show and seeing cars littered with built up finger prints.

Does this put the vehicle in the best visual appearance?

What if someone hands were sticky from a Sticky Bun they were eating. Or had grease on it. Even more icky.

More then likely you’ll ask to have your plate, glass, silverware replaced with clean ones. It’s just icky. I remember one restaurant my silverware had burnt on crusted old food on it. Yuck, I LEFT and never came back.

And car shows are constantly keeping their cars cleaned and shiny and finger print free for a reason.

Don’t do that with your coins. No one wants a coin with big fingerprints on them!!
