I have this 83 P Quarter and couldn’t find any mention of DDO’s, so I’m totally assuming that I don’t have a DDO, lol (SHOCKER!!)! But can anyone tell me what I’m seeing with Washington’s eyes and lip/chin area? Is this machine doubling? Thanks in advance! 3B515B87-CA51-451B-B5E5-CB9F0843F611.jpeg DEFCCBD2-26A8-476A-A9B3-E31972F17B7B.jpeg 39663C60-1D0E-461E-A8F4-ADE20EE55974.jpeg C07DBCAE-417A-438E-9FEB-C194A2FEFFF8.jpeg 28BB79ED-3859-448F-991C-999CDD879940.jpeg DB569776-2F29-437A-A8DB-4EB89EE2382C.jpeg

It doesn't appear to be "flat and shelf-like" but the images could be better.

I will try to get a few better pics! I only noticed it bc I was looking with my microscope! Maybe I can just put a shot from that?!!

First, "flat and shelf-like" is usually indicative of machine doubling which is worthless. What I was trying to say is that it just might be true hub doubling. I would rather see better photos that don't require super close-ups from one of those USB digital microscopes because they tend to skew the results.

Did you check www.varietyvista.com or www.doubleddie.com for an exact match? These sites have a comprehensive list of doubled dies. Book mark these sites and make them your first stop. They also list RPMs

Looking at known examples will help you to learn how to spot real ones. Doubleddie.com also has a tab called worthless doubling which explains mechanical and die deterioration doubling. Take a little time and read over these sites. You'll learn a lot
