1983 P LMC Reverse Die Crack Question

    The die crack begins at the rim and appears to fork and then reconnect, forming an island. Am I seeing this correctly and is there a special category of crack that defines it? image.jpg 20200204_111358.jpg 20200204_111054.jpg image.jpg

    Thank you! The island does appear to be raised a little on the bottom edge, so I was thinking along these lines. I had looked at most of these same examples on cuds on coins. I am not confident yet in my conclusions....

    I see what you mean but it all looks like a normal crack.

    Seconded on interior die break. Die crack on the left base also. A lot of die polishing on the reverse indicates a very worn die that a tech was trying to salvage.

    Agree - interior die break

    Don't recall seeing that one before.
