Greetings all had a roll of quarters laying around don't know how long but I busted into them and came up with these questions. What's with the talons? The d looks like he's got an alien on his talon. The p looks like he's got four talents. I don't see anything that it took a hit or any indication that it did. How About the feathers that go down to the talons? Some of the feathers are missing on both .is that grease filled? On the d coin, right side of the arrows at the end the leaf below it is farther away then the p. Also on the d , reverse, only the a in States was very weak. Grease filled? How about the o in of? that's partially filled. Continuing with the d it looks like an o, right wing by right leg I think it should look like a feather. The p reverse the words states of looks like a ghost wrote it LOL. As a matter of fact all the letters look like that esp. in e pluribs unum. Could it be a doubled die? There appears to be a die crack between the r and d in quarter dollar, or is that environmental? How about under the horizontal bar in t in quarter? Looks like environmental but it has to be a perfect hit on each side of the tea. At first I thought the tea was on top of that but I believe that would be impossible. If you see anything else on these coins please enlighten me thank you. Oh one more thing how about the mint mark? Variety Vista is not like this grease filled again? I see some normal quarters with average circulation wear and tear(dmaage)also the pareidolia effect, still 50 cents.

Worn dies and circulation wear is all I'm seeing, but my eyes aren't what they used to be.

The P mint is a keeper in nice high end XF with a trace of luster. It's only worth about a buck right now if that but these are getting tough in XF and even VF's aren't seen very often any longer. AU's bring 3 to $15.

The Denver is a good VF hole filler for an album but it can be improved with little effort.

The other issues are rarely sought.

I'd have to check but the die break could be an early die state of a popular cud. If so it would be of some limited interest.

Remember that the 83s did not come in mint sets, only bags and rolls for circulation. So higher grades are worth a bit more than other 80s quarter in the same condition.
