1983 ?? Mint mark penny error?

    Do you see any signs of wear thru copper plating? That would be crazy if somebody acid dipped an 83 copper.

    That coin was polished on a high speed wire brush .

    Well if you look next too his face in front of him, it looks like there are two little indentations. Not sure if it went through the whole copper clad. But I had an idea as to maybe what it could be. What if this is a counterfeit, isn't 1983 a key date? Correct me if I'm wrong. But yea what I was thinking is this could be a counterfeit and when they stamped it maybe it was too hot or something? Maybe it caused it to ripple like that. If you look on the edge of the coin, it's almost like the edge goes up a little as if either too much heat or pressure was applied

    I dont see that at all. Do you have other polished examples that resemble it? I am seeing an 83 copper penny. The two craters in front of lincolns face are deep enough to show zinc.

    Pix of the edge would be interesting to me. I wish you had access to a better photo-device. If acid dipped, my guess is the edge would be affected too.
