Is this an error on this Kennedy half dollar? On the letters and number. It is like this on most of the coin.

I have never seen those specific oddities before. I am sure others with more experience than I will comment shortly. If I had to guess I would say that it is some sort of die deterioration.

I agree with die deterioration issue. Not really a mint error but a die state. Worn die strike.

Very weird. Can we see the whole obverse?

    Welcome to Coin Talk.
I too have not seen this particular abnormality before, but I do agree with paddyman98. It surly looks like a Die Deterioration issue. I find it quite interesting they all have the same shape.
I think it may come from metal moving into the design feature on the interior side and at the same time it is trying to move out of the edge side.
After all, metal movement is the reason dies wear out.
I too would like to see a full coin photo.

I believe it’s a worn die that caused that so not an error.

We’re needing to see the whole obverse, Mitch. That die looks to be in reasonably good shape.

Yes, we need to see the entire coin.

Hey my friend I'm a rookie but I got some experience for the past like 7 years but if I'm still a rookie you learn something new everyday with these coins I believe that's I called die deteration

But I made that mistake before where I listen to everybody and everybody were wrong so make sure you do your own research so go to YouTube that's one place and it explains it pretty good with diet deterioration is or you can go to the library
